TRIBUTES

"Dale Warland is one of the best choirmasters I have ever known. It was a great pleasure for me to cooperate with him on many occasions. Each of the performances he prepared was excellent."
~ Krzysztof Penderecki, Conductor & Composer, Poland

"We watch him, trying to figure out how he does it…. Maybe it's something we don't see, a genuine concern and caring for his singers, an emotional vulnerability that lets him be touched by the core of the music, and an overwhelming desire to express in perfect heavenly sound what is on the page. From one of the many composers whose works you have championed, thank you!"
~ Carol Barnett, DWS Composer-in-Residence 1992 -2001

DALE WARLAND SINGERS NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY AWARD IN BEST CHORAL PERFORMANCE

On Sunday, February 8th, Dale Warland, along with his wife Ruth, executive director Gayle Ober, and general manager Debby Harrer, attended the 46th annual Grammy awards in Los Angeles. Dale had been nominated for Best Choral Performance for the Singers 2003 recording, "Walden Pond." Unfortunately, Dale did not win the Grammy. The award went to Paavo Jarvi, conductor; Tiia-Ester Loitme & Ants Soots, chorus masters (Ellerhein Girls' Choir & Estonian National Male Choir; Estonian National Symphony Orchestra) for "Sibelius: Cantatas." Although we did not win, it is important to remember that the nomination itself is among the highest honors in the recording industry.
